Welcome to the first step of your healing journey. I am so glad you are here. I believe in the therapeutic power of relationship and connecting with each client authentically as foundational in my role as a Professional Counselor Associate. My goal is to facilitate a dynamic partnership in which each client is an active participant in their own growth. Together we will explore personal strengths and key support people in each client’s life, determine goals, and evaluate progress along the way. I believe in an integrative approach to counseling, recognizing the complex interactions of mind, body, emotions, and soul. In the counseling process, it is my desire that clients will gain insight and understanding as well as be able to experience restorative healing in their lives. I am aware of my values as a Christian and yet do not impose my values on clients.
Although influenced by a variety of theoretical orientations, I believe that a holistic and eclectic approach to counseling permits freedom to consider the impact of relationships, thinking and behavior patterns, and family dynamics. I draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Family Systems Therapy utilizing individual, couples and group counseling. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Prior to joining Salem Pastoral Counseling Center, I worked with homeless and at-risk youth in a shelter setting, served as a community mental health counselor with children, adolescents, and adults, and spent 19 years working as a school counselor with Salem Keizer School District. I have been trained in Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed care, and crisis response with the Crisis Management Institute. I am a member of the American Counseling Association. As a Registered Professional Counselor Associate, I am supervised by George Olson, Licensed Professional Counselor. I look forward to the opportunity to walk alongside you as you begin this courageous journey!
